About Cafe Francois
Café François opened in Borough Market in autumn 2024 as a sibling to Maison François in St James's. Grace Dent in the Guardian hailed it "a new London landmark" that "could well turn into Borough Market's most useful rendezvous point." Hardens confirms: "a haven of reasonably-priced deliciousness in the mosh-pit of Borough Market." The format is an all-day rolling French canteen with influences from Montreal and California, open from 7am for breakfast through to 10pm last orders Monday to Saturday. The menu includes rotisserie chicken, lobster, prime rib of beef and a pâtisserie cabinet from the in-house bakery. Giles Coren in The Times loved it particularly for its Picon bière (lager spiked with bitter orange aperitif) alongside the food. The restaurant has taken over a brick behemoth of a building that was formerly a Paul Smith fashion shop.
Available for dine-in at Borough Market SE1, from 7am daily Monday to Saturday.
