Maharani

Maharani has been the established Indian restaurant on Halfway Street since 2011, occupying a small white-fronted building on the Blackfen-side stretch where Halfway Street curves down towards The Oval. The dining room seats around forty across two short rows of linen-draped tables, with a separate function area for parties of up to thirty at the back. Trade splits roughly evenly between sit-down dinner and the kitchen's delivery and collection service.

The menu carries the recognisable Bangladeshi-British curry-house repertoire — chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh, king prawn pathia, vegetable jalfrezi — alongside the kitchen's own house specials, which the marketing pitches under the "Maharani Specialities" banner. Tandoori grills, biryani plates and a serious vegetarian section (paneer shashlik, chana masala, sag aloo, bombay aloo, tarka dal) all feature, with the breads section running to peshwari, garlic and chilli naan. The restaurant takes reservations on its own site and operates a three-mile in-house delivery radius that reaches into Welling, Bexley, Bexleyheath, Eltham and Crayford. Family meal deals, vegetarian set menus and a small banquet night offer round the trade out. Cash and card accepted at the counter and at the door.
