About Al Amin Indian Cuisine
Al-Amin Indian Cuisine is a long-running curry takeaway on Cromwell Road, run by Fernando Senaratha and built around a kitchen that prepares sauces and curries from scratch rather than reheating a base gravy. The shop reached the final three of the Grimsby Telegraph's Best Indian Restaurant and Takeaway competition in 2017, and across local press coverage it is repeatedly singled out for community work — most prominently a long-running Christmas Day free-curry service for vulnerable and isolated residents, which has drawn coverage in Grimsby Live across several years.
The signature is a lamb-based curry called Columbo, an unusual house dish that draws on the owner's Sri Lankan background and that customers tend to point at specifically in reviews. Around it the menu runs through the standard British-Indian repertoire — baltis, bhunas, masalas, jalfrezis and biryanis, with a tandoori starter section and a vegetable list — but the from-scratch kitchen style, the Columbo dish and the charity work taken together give the shop a clearer identity than most takeaway-curry operations in central Grimsby. Trading is evening-only, with collection and delivery covering the central residential streets and out towards the Westgate end of the postcode.
