New Curry Centre

The New Curry Centre is one of the longer-established Indian restaurants on the central Welling parade, on Bellegrove Road a few doors from Gulen Ocakbasi and the cluster of Turkish and Italian shops that mark this end of the high street. The kitchen runs the broad British-curry-house repertoire — tandoori starters from the clay oven, traditional curries graded from mild korma through to vindaloo, balti and karahi dishes, biryanis, fish dishes, a long vegetarian board and a separate thali block — with halal across the menu. It is a sit-down dining room as well as a takeaway, which sets it apart from most of its neighbours.

Tripadvisor ranks the New Curry Centre comfortably in the upper half of Welling restaurants and the reviews are warm on the family-run feel, the consistency of the cooking and the price point that comfortably holds a two-course dinner under twenty-five pounds a head. The restaurant trades seven days a week, with most days opening from lunchtime through to late evening and a couple of nights running evening-only — an unusual pattern but well-publicised on the door and online.
