Falcon Tandoori

Falcon Tandoori has been the anchor curry house on Falconwood Parade since 1989, opened as the first Indian restaurant in this small shopping row that serves the residential streets around Falconwood station on the western edge of the Borough of Bexley. The Parade — a single stub of shops on The Green between Welling and Eltham — has only ever had room for a handful of restaurants, and Falcon Tandoori has held its corner of it for over thirty years, which is a rarer thing in south-east London than it used to be.

The kitchen runs a long, traditional menu — tandoori starters cooked in the clay oven, balti dishes, biryanis, regional house specials and chef's recommendations — with the family describing their style as freshly ground in-house spices and longer marinades rather than jarred curry paste. Vegetarian and vegan options run through most of the menu and the restaurant is a sit-down dining room as well as a takeaway, which sets it apart from the surrounding Falconwood Parade chip shops and pizza counters.
