About Spice Village
Spice Village is an Indian and Thai restaurant and takeaway on Town Street in Duffield, working the same village parade as the Golden Valley Chinese and a few yards from the upmarket Viceroy on Tamworth Street. It is one of the rarer crossover operations in the area — a single kitchen running both the British-Indian curry-house list and a Thai menu — and trades on a bring-your-own-alcohol basis on the eat-in side.
The kitchen runs the standard curry-house range — bhuna, dhansak, dopiaza, jalfrezi, korma and tandoori starters — alongside Thai red, green and massaman curries and a few stir-fry options. Reviews split fairly evenly across the experience: warmer comments describe a tasty meal, well-presented and brilliantly served, while less-warm ones flag bland lamb and chicken dishes and a slow service pace at busy moments.
The BYO policy keeps the per-head cost down and the dining room is small enough that the service can feel personal when it's working. Evening trading, with later closing at weekends. Halal-style kitchen on the meat side of the curry menu.
