Summer Palace

Summer Palace sits on Huntly Square, the small civic-and-shops centre of Whitfield, the post-war housing scheme rebuilt in the 1990s after the failed 1960s deck-access experiment was demolished. The takeaway runs a broad Chinese and Thai carry-out menu — Cantonese roast meats, sweet-and-sour sets, Singapore-style curries and a strong seafood section featuring king prawn and squid specials — and has been the steady Chinese option for Whitfield, Fintry and Mill o'Mains households for years. It opens evenings only, six till just before eleven, and the company itself was incorporated in 2016 although the shop has traded from the Square long before that under earlier owners. The Square location means delivery covers the whole eastern fringe of the city, from the housing schemes out to the Forfar Road, and the kitchen does steady weekend numbers through both its own ordering channels and Uber Eats. Reviews are consistent rather than spectacular — the value sets and the willingness to mark dishes up or down on chilli get the most repeat mentions.
