Ha Ru

Ha Ru is a much-loved fixture on New Malden High Street, drawing Korean food pilgrims from across London to what many regard as one of the most consistent kitchens in Britain's Koreatown. The cooking is resolutely traditional: kimchi jeon arrives with wonderful crispiness, the yukgaejang is fiery and nourishing, the hotpot options hit hardest in winter, and the boneless fried chicken is a perennial favourite. Free banchan side dishes are served without asking, and spice levels are not moderated for non-Korean diners. At roughly £20–25 per head, it represents exceptional value for food of this quality. Small dining room — arrive early or expect a queue at weekends.
