Khyber Pass

Khyber Pass is a long-running takeaway on Uxbridge Street, at the south-west corner of central Burton-upon-Trent. Despite the name suggesting an Indian curry house, the kitchen actually runs as a mixed pizza-kebab-burger shop with a small curry board on the side — closer in structure to the Branston Road independents than to the dedicated curry shops along Guild Street.

The kebab side runs doner and chicken on the spit as wraps, pittas or trays with chips. Pizzas come on a wide topping list including chicken-tikka and donner-meat versions. Burgers are flame-cooked with the usual toppings; the curry board carries chicken tikka masala, korma, bhuna and a few balti builds for households wanting a curry without driving across town. Reviewers single out the freshness of the chicken and lamb and the friendliness of the counter staff.
