Spice Hut

Spice Hut has run out of the unit on Horninglow Road since 2000 — twenty-five years on this dense inner-residential takeaway corridor, which is unusual for the area. Despite the name, the shop is not an Indian curry house: the kitchen turns out kebabs, pizzas and burgers as the core menu, with a few side options of curries to fill out the menu board.

Doner kebabs come on the spit served as wraps, pittas or trays with chips and salad. The pizza side runs a long topping list from the standard pepperoni and meat-feast builds through to chicken-tikka and donner-meat versions for the late trade. Burgers are flame-cooked patties with the usual range of toppings, and the chip side gets praise for crispness in Yelp and Tripadvisor reviews.

Hours are firmly late on weekdays and run later still on Fridays and Saturdays, with the shop closed on Sundays. Trade is collection and delivery across central Burton, listed on Just Eat for orders across the Horninglow, Anglesey Street and Branston Road patch. A steady late-night option for the residential streets either side of the Horninglow Road corridor.
