Ignite Bengali Indian Restaurant

Ignite on Morrison Street has been one of Edinburgh's more ambitious Indian restaurants since it opened in 2002, building a reputation for Bengali cooking — dishes from Bangladesh and West Bengal that travel less frequently to British restaurant menus than the more familiar North Indian and Punjabi canon. The kitchen won Restaurant of the Year (Edinburgh) at the Asian Restaurant Awards in 2019, and TheFork scores it 9.6 out of 10 across food, service and atmosphere. The menu runs from dine-in to takeaway, with hours Monday to Sunday from noon to 11:30pm. Google's 4.4-star average from a substantial base of reviews reflects a kitchen that has stayed consistent over more than two decades. Morrison Street's Haymarket stretch has become Edinburgh's most concentrated Indian restaurant district, and Ignite sits at the more formal, sit-down end of that market.
