Cafe Piccante

Cafe Piccante is an Edinburgh institution at the Hillside end of East Norton Place, a short street connecting London Road to the Calton Hill side streets. The chip shop and Italian takeaway serves 14 chip combinations — including the famous hamburger chip roll — alongside pizzas, and is one of the few Edinburgh chippies still serving a deep fried Mars bar. Beyond the daytime chip shop trade, Cafe Piccante holds a late-night drinks licence and turns into something of a local nightlife stop on Fridays and Saturdays, with a DJ and disco ball. The second branch on London Street serves the New Town end of the same catchment. Online ordering is available through Just Eat and Scoffable, with delivery across the surrounding Edinburgh postcodes.
