China Garden

China Garden is the long-running Chinese takeaway on Sidcup Hill, the steep residential road that climbs south from the High Street up towards Foots Cray Meadows. The shop has held its small frontage in the same parade for years and is the closest Chinese option for the housing estates running off Sidcup Hill and Halfway Street, the streets that locals call the "old village" end of Sidcup. The kitchen runs evenings only and is built around fast-turnaround takeaway rather than sit-in dining.

The menu is the familiar British-Cantonese list — sweet-and-sour chicken or pork in batter, beef in black bean, chicken in cashew nuts, salt-and-pepper ribs or wings, special chow mein, singapore fried rice, foo yung and a wide curry section — supplemented by set meals priced for two, three and four that are the routine weekend order on the surrounding streets. Off-street parking outside the parade is one of the practical reasons the shop holds its trade against the pizzeria and the kebab houses further down the High Street.
