Shere Punjab of Kent is a long-running Punjabi sit-down restaurant on London Road in Northfleet, registered with Companies House as Shere Punjab of Gravesend Ltd. The kitchen runs a recognisably Punjabi rather than Bangladeshi-British menu — the tandoor section delivering chicken tikka, lamb tikka and sheek kebabs cooked over charcoal sits alongside a list of regional specials that includes Punjabi goat curry, paneer burji (the scrambled-paneer dish that is rare on local curry-house menus), and the various chickpea and dal preparations from the north. A serious biryani section is a feature of the card, with separate chicken, lamb, prawn and vegetable preparations cooked in the dum style with sealed lids. The restaurant is dry — no alcohol licence — but operates BYO, which keeps the per-head spend lower than the licensed local competition.
