Gills

Gills is the long-running Wellington Street takeaway in central Ripley, a short walk off the Market Place. The shop has changed sign over the years — it has traded as Gills Kebab House, Ripley Kebab House and most recently Delicious Desserts and Buns alongside the Gills name — but the kitchen has run continuously from the same Wellington Street unit. It is one of the few halal-marked operations on the central Ripley list.

The menu is built around doner, shish and mixed kebabs, southern-fried chicken, burgers and wraps, with a separate dessert and bun side that handles waffles, milkshakes, sundaes and the usual late-evening sweet trade. Collection is straightforward — Wellington Street has on-street parking near the shop — and delivery runs across central Ripley through Just Eat. Reviews are mixed by the nature of the late-night kebab trade, but the regulars come back for the marinated chicken and the dessert side, which is one of the more developed in town.

It runs late on weekend evenings and catches the after-pub trade from the Market Place.
