Codnor Tandoori Takeaway

Codnor Tandoori is the long-running Indian takeaway on the Market Place in Codnor, the small ex-mining village above the Codnor Castle ruins a couple of miles east of Ripley. It is the village's only Indian shop and trades to a long-standing local following across Codnor, Waingroves, Crosshill and the eastern Ripley estates.

The menu is the standard Indian-takeaway list — tikka masala, jalfrezi, korma, biryani, balti, dopiaza, madras and vindaloo through to the chef-special heat — and the kitchen also runs a separate pizza section for households that want a mixed order. Delivery is free within three miles of the shop, with a small charge beyond that, and the long-standing collection offer is a free bottle of soft drink with curry collections over twenty pounds. The Food Standards Agency hygiene rating was last refreshed in 2023.

For Codnor and the surrounding villages this is the obvious local Indian, and the convenience of the Market Place position with on-street parking outside makes it a reliable collection option on the drive back from Ripley town centre.
