Star Kebab House

Star Kebab House — listed in some places as Star Pizza & Kebab — is one of the late-night options on Bath Street, the pedestrianised central shopping street that runs through Ilkeston. It works the typical Ilkeston independent template: pizzas, donner and shish kebabs, burgers and southern-fried chicken from a single open kitchen, with the lights on well past closing time for the surrounding shops.

The pizza list runs to about twenty-five toppings on stone-baked bases in three sizes, with calzones and a garlic-bread starter set. Kebabs cover the standard chicken and lamb donner, chicken shish and mixed plates, served as wraps, on flatbread or with chips and salad. Fried chicken comes in buckets and meal-deal boxes. Sauces are familiar — garlic mayo, chilli, BBQ — and the value-led meal deals are what most regulars order.

Trading runs from late afternoon through to midnight Sunday to Thursday and through to two in the morning on Fridays and Saturdays, picking up the weekend post-pub trade between the Market Place and the lower end of Bath Street. Orders go through Just Eat and Uber Eats for delivery across central Ilkeston, Cotmanhay and Kirk Hallam, with plenty of walk-in collection trade from the surrounding streets.
