About Raheem Indian Restaurant
Raheem is the resident Indian restaurant and takeaway at The Dales, the small shopping parade serving West Hallam, the village west of Ilkeston home to the Bottle Kiln pottery centre. It is a family-run operation cooking through the full British Indian and Bangladeshi takeaway repertoire, and it sits a couple of doors down from the Village Chinese, between them covering most of West Hallam's mid-week and Friday-night takeaway trade.
The menu runs through the standard madras, bhuna, dopiaza, rogan josh, korma, dhansak and pasanda set, with a tandoori section — chicken tikka, lamb tikka, mixed grill, sheek kebab — and a biryani range built around basmati rather than pilau. Karahi-style dishes and a small house-special list cover the people who want something a step above the standard book; vegetarian options run through the chickpea, paneer and aubergine staples. Naans come out properly puffed from the tandoor.
Trading is evening only and the restaurant takes Tuesday as its weekly day off — fairly standard for independent curry houses in this part of east Derbyshire. Online ordering goes through Raheem's own website; delivery covers West Hallam, Mapperley and the western edge of Ilkeston. Collection from the parade itself is quick.
