Taj Mahal is one of the long-running Indian restaurants on Curzon Street, the small parallel-to-the-ring-road street just behind the Wardwick and the central Cathedral Quarter that has carried Derby's densest cluster of curry houses for years. The dining room runs the full Bangladeshi-British template — tandoori starters, the recognised curries and balti dishes, biryanis and chef's specials — alongside a takeaway and delivery service. The room takes drinks bookings and is set up for groups. Reviewer scores are middling rather than headline-grabbing, sitting around the city's mid-tier for the curry-house category, but the kitchen has held the same Curzon Street unit through several years of intense local competition, which is its own kind of recommendation in a street with this many neighbouring Indian operators.
