About Spice Of Life
Spice Of Life on the southern London Road end of Wilmorton is one of the longer-running Indian takeaways on the south-east Derby A6 corridor. Wilmorton is the older railway-housing stretch that sits between Alvaston and Pride Park — the Baseball Ground, Derby County's home until 1997, stood on this side of the A6 — and the takeaway sits among the parade of converted Victorian shopfronts that line this part of the road. The menu is the standard Indian list of starters, balti and karahi house specials, masala curries, biryanis and rice, with a separate king prawn and seafood section that gets more attention than most local takeaways carry, and a small set-meal block at the lower end for one and two diners. Service is collection and delivery only and the operation is firmly evenings-only, with Mondays closed in the way many of these single-kitchen Indian takeaways operate. The shop is registered through Companies House as Spice Of Life (Derby) Limited and is one of two takeaways trading under the Spice Of Life name on this stretch of London Road — the second sits a short distance further north up the A6, also in Wilmorton.
