Peking House

Peking House sits on Chapel Side, the small parade at the heart of old Spondon village a couple of doors from the post office. It's the village's main Chinese takeaway and has been on the parade for several years — the operation has run through a change of ownership in recent years, and reviewer commentary now splits along that line, with longer-standing regulars noting the old kitchen and newer reviews flagging the current run. The menu sticks to the British-Cantonese spine: salt and pepper chips, the prawn-toast and rib starters, special fried rice and the usual chicken-beef-tofu mains. Closed on a Monday and trading evenings through the rest of the week, with the kitchen running later on Friday and Saturday than the rest. The custom comes off the immediate Spondon village streets — the Sitwell Street and Chapel Street housing — and a tight short-radius delivery patch.
