Anoki Derby

Anoki is Derby's flagship fine-dining Indian restaurant, opened in 2003 in a converted former picture house on London Road and one of a very small number of Indian rooms in the East Midlands genuinely operating in the fine-dining bracket. The dining room is the original feature — a vaulted art-deco ceiling, chandeliers, high-backed banquettes and immaculate table settings, a more theatrical room than the standard high-street curry house. The kitchen runs a modern Indian menu rather than the Bangladeshi-British template, and the cooking has been picked up by the Sunday Times' Top Places to Eat list, the Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine and named Best Indian in the Midlands in the Cobra Good Curry Guide. Service is in traditional Indian dress and is consistently flagged as a strength. The restaurant celebrated its twentieth anniversary in 2024.
