About Abbey Fish Bar
Abbey Fish Bar is the corner chippy on King Alfred Street, set in the West End terraces west of Derby city centre between Friar Gate and the Uttoxeter Road. The shop runs the standard Derby chippy template — fish and chips at the core, with pies, burgers, pizzas and pasties added on to broaden the trade beyond just the cod-and-chips crowd.
The fish side runs the classic three: cod, haddock and plaice, battered fresh to order with chips cut in the shop. Pies are the supplier-standard steak, chicken and steak-and-kidney; battered sausages, fish cakes and saveloys cover the cheaper end of the fryer. The pizza addition picks up the family teatime trade where one in the household isn't in the mood for fish.
Delivery is run through Just Eat and Uber Eats across the immediate West End catchment, with a minimum order that keeps it sensible. Collection is straightforward; the shop sits on a small parade with on-street parking. The kitchen is closed Sundays. Trade is heaviest from late afternoon onwards, particularly Friday teatime when the local fish queue forms early.
