The Lucky Star

The Lucky Star occupies the small Chapel Walk parade off Chapel Street in central Alfreton, a short walk from the King Street pub run. It's one of the longer-standing Chinese takeaways in the town, well plugged into the after-pub trade — the kitchen runs through to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays — and consistently picked out by locals for prompt delivery and hot food on arrival.

The menu covers the full Cantonese spread along with set meal bundles aimed at one, two or three diners, and the shop accepts the usual mix of cash, card and PayPal at the counter. It closes on Wednesdays, which is the customary mid-week pause for an independent Chinese kitchen, and opens around 5pm the rest of the week. Delivery runs across Alfreton itself, South Normanton, Swanwick, Somercotes, Leabrooks and Riddings — a wide enough radius that the kitchen reaches most of the Amber Valley villages on the right side of the M1.
