The Golden Inn

Stonebroom — the small Derbyshire village that sits up on the hill between Tibshelf and Morton — keeps a single regular Chinese takeaway on Birkinstyle Lane, and Golden Inn (currently trading as New Golden Inn) does the job. The menu is a fully worked Cantonese-and-Thai list: sweet and sour pork, satay, curry-sauce dishes, chow mein and fried rice on the Chinese side, plus a smaller run of Thai green and red curries, with pizza bundles tacked on for households that want the two cuisines covered in one order.

Delivery is the main game — the shop runs into Stonebroom itself, Higham, Shirland, Tibshelf and Morton, with delivery charges for the further drops. For Stonebroom that's a useful reach; the village has very little else in the way of evening food once the local pub stops serving. Collection is welcomed and there's a serviceable online ordering route through the shop's site. It's the village's regular Friday-night Chinese as much as a destination kitchen.
