Classic Canton trades from Nottingham Road in Somercotes, the long ribbon of shops that runs down the village off Alfreton towards Pye Bridge. It's one of the better-rated Chinese takeaways in the area — locals come back consistently for the cooking, the friendly counter team and the quick turn-around — and the shop holds a 5 (very good) FSA hygiene rating from its September 2025 inspection.

The menu covers a serious vegetarian section as well as the standard meat-and-prawn Cantonese spread, which is worth flagging in a village where most takeaways treat veg dishes as an afterthought. It closes on Mondays and Tuesdays — unusual for a Chinese in a working village, but a fair quality-of-life pattern for a family-run operation — and trades Wednesday to Sunday evenings. Delivery covers Somercotes itself, the Riddings streets and the closer Alfreton edges, with collection welcomed at the Nottingham Road counter. For locals it's the go-to weekend Chinese rather than the casual weeknight default.
