China Town

China Town occupies a King Street pitch in central Alfreton, opposite the run of pubs and pizza shops that takes the central trade. It's a long-running Chinese takeaway working the standard town-centre Cantonese book — sweet and sour pork balls, kung po chicken, beef in black bean, satay, chop suey, curry sauce dishes and a long noodle and rice section — with collection from the counter as the easier route given the cramped on-street parking nearby.

Alfreton has more Chinese kitchens than most Amber Valley towns its size, and China Town has held its King Street spot through the rises and falls of the rivals at Diamond City, Lucky Star and a couple of others. The trade comes mainly from the central residential streets and the evening foot traffic from the pub side of King Street. It's a small-counter operation rather than a dining room, and the regular customers are the ones who keep it running. Delivery covers the closer Alfreton streets.
