The Captain's Table

The Captain's Table enjoys one of the finest positions in Donaghadee, a beautifully placed cafe and takeaway with stunning views out to the Copeland Islands and Scotland beyond. Long known for quality fish and chips, it has more recently added Caproni ice cream and freshly ground coffee, making it a proper all-rounder for a seafront treat. Reviews run mixed but loyal regulars rate it warmly, and it currently holds around 3.6/5 on Restaurant Guru across hundreds of reviews.

The heart of the menu remains classic seaside frying, with a golden, light batter and chips that draw plenty of praise for their texture and flavour. A traditional Fish Supper is the obvious choice, best enjoyed gazing across the water on a bright day. With hearty portions and that unbeatable view, it is a firm fixture of the County Down coast, equally good for a relaxed sit-down bite or a takeaway to carry along the front. An ice cream to finish is all but compulsory.
