About Tay Fry Inn
Tay Fry Inn occupies a double frontage on Perth Road in the west end of Dundee, next door to Don Michele and a short walk from Ninewells Hospital and the western residential streets running down toward the river. It is a traditional Scottish fish bar with a restaurant area attached, serving haddock suppers, scampi, fish cakes and the full range of Tayside chip-shop staples alongside the deep-fried pizza — full and half — that is still a fixture of west-of-Scotland chippies. The menu also covers burgers, kebabs and pies for the late student trade.
The shop trades hard on the Perth Road footfall: hospital shift workers, students from the nearby university halls and the residential streets that climb up from the Tay toward Balgay Hill all feed into its early-evening rush. Reviews on Yelp, TripAdvisor and Just Eat are mixed in the way most busy chippies are — regulars praise the size of the haddock and the chip quality on a good night, while occasional visitors flag inconsistency at the busiest weekend slots. Collection and a Just Eat delivery feed run alongside the walk-in counter, and the fish bar has become one of the better-known late-trade chippies west of the city centre.
