Shahi Takeaway

Shahi is one of the long-running Indian and Pakistani halal takeaways at the heart of the Albert Street curry cluster in Stobswell, trading from a corner unit at the busy lower end of the parade. The shop is properly halal-certified — listed on Zabihah under the Pakistani designation — and runs a multi-board menu that covers the full takeaway trade of the surrounding tenement streets: Indian curries and biryani at the core, plus pizzas, kebabs, burgers and wraps to capture the late-evening fryer custom that the curry-only shops miss. The kitchen trades from four in the afternoon through to midnight on weeknights and to one in the morning on Friday and Saturday, which puts it on the same after-pub footing as the city-centre Indians for taxi-led delivery work. The shop runs Just Eat and own-site ordering alongside collection, and the catchment runs across Stobswell, Baxter Park, the Forfar Road and the inner-east tenement grid. Halal trade — particularly the Pakistani communities along Albert Street — forms a sizeable share of the daily orders.
