About Azaad Tandoori
Azaad Tandoori traces its Dundee operation back to the late 1980s — the family behind the current Azaad brand identify Charleston Drive as one of their original west-Dundee shops, sister to the later Invergowrie and Whitfield sites. The Charleston Drive unit sits in the residential heart of the scheme, on the parade that has historically anchored the takeaway trade for the surrounding closes and the upper end of Menzieshill.
The kitchen runs a standard Punjabi-and-Bangladeshi takeaway menu — tandoori chicken from the clay oven, balti dishes, kormas, biryani sets and the usual run of madras and bhuna curries — alongside kebabs, burgers and a pizza list aimed at the late-evening student and family trade. Reviews on the brand's own ordering pages and on the aggregators are consistently positive on portion size and authenticity of spicing, with the tandoori chicken and the chef-special tikka masala the dishes most often singled out. Azaad has built up enough Dundee history that the name carries weight locally; the Charleston Drive shop is the closest the brand has to a flagship in the west-end housing schemes.
