Red Chilli is one of the three Indian takeaways grouped within a few doors of one another on Cheviot Crescent in Fintry, the post-war scheme on the north-eastern fringe of Dundee. The shop trades to a late-night pattern by Fintry standards, with the kitchen running through to midnight Sunday through Thursday and to one in the morning at weekends, which puts it on the same footing as the city-centre Indians for after-pub orders coming out by taxi. The menu is full mainline Indian and Pakistani — the standard curry range, baltis, biryanis, a tandoori section and a chef's-specials column — and the shop has built a respectable Restaurant Guru rating north of four out of five across a couple of dozen reviews. It works alongside Mirch Masala and Tartan Tandoori within the same parade, with each shop having its own pocket of regulars within the scheme. Delivery runs across Fintry, Mill o'Mains, Whitfield and the Drumgeith roundabout area, and the late closing means it picks up the secondary Stobswell trade once the Dura Street kitchens shut.
