Ganges sits a few steps off the central Carnoustie High Street on Park Avenue, the short residential street that runs north from the railway-station end of the town centre. It is one of the few fully-licensed Indian sit-in restaurants in Carnoustie, opened in 2008 and built up over the years into the town's most consistently top-rated restaurant on the main review platforms — currently sitting at the top of the Carnoustie restaurant rankings on TripAdvisor across hundreds of reviews. The kitchen runs a fairly classic Indian menu: aromatic curries, tandoori grills cooked to order, biryanis, and a substantial vegetarian section. Booking is recommended at weekends, particularly when the championship course is hosting events and Carnoustie is busy. Ganges sits in a different bracket to the takeaway-only Indians at the central end of the High Street — Euphrates and The Indos — and operates principally as an evening dining venue rather than a delivery shop, drawing custom from across the town and out toward Newbigging, Panbride and the Carnoustie golf-tourism trade.
