Euphrates trades from the central High Street stretch in Carnoustie — the seaside Angus town best known for its Open Championship golf links, which has hosted the Open eight times, most recently in 2018 — and sits a few minutes' walk from the railway station and the route down to the championship course. The shop is a takeaway-only Indian-and-grill operation with a broad menu that runs across Indian curries, kebabs, pizzas, burgers and calzones, and it trades a late-evening service that puts it in the late-night bracket of Carnoustie's food shops. It is described as halal across the menu. The operation took over a site that previously traded as Village Grill, and reviews from regulars routinely note an uplift in quality on the previous occupant of the same address. Euphrates sits in a competitive central-Carnoustie catchment alongside the Ganges Indian restaurant a few streets away on Park Avenue and The Indos further west on the High Street, and pulls a mix of residential delivery and walk-in collection from the central streets.
