Howe Harrison

Howe Harrison is one of the very few dedicated Jamaican takeaways in West Yorkshire, serving the Deighton community from Leeds Road. The kitchen produces the kind of slow-cooked Caribbean cooking that is difficult to find outside the home: oxtail braised until falling from the bone, stew chicken with rice and peas, and rich soups made from scratch. The takeaway draws regulars who drive across Huddersfield specifically for the oxtail, and the place also does outside catering — a measure of how seriously the cooking is taken. Portions are generous and the food arrives well packed and hot. A straightforward operation without frills, and the better for it.
