Julep Indian Restaurant

Julep on Lord Street is Halifax's most distinctive Indian restaurant: a tapas-style Indian dining room with a wine bar attached, spread over two levels in a narrow Georgian-era street close to the town centre. The concept — smaller, shareable portions of Indian food designed to be mixed and matched across the table — sets it apart from the city's balti houses and takeaways. The menu runs to beautifully presented biryani, kebab skewers, and bhaji alongside more unusual preparations, all designed to be shared rather than ordered one-to-one. A Certificate of Excellence on TripAdvisor (2016–17) and 242 reviews with a 4.5 average reflect a well-earned reputation. The wine bar element makes it one of the few Indian restaurants in Calderdale where the drinks list is as considered as the food.
