Bang Thai Dee

Bang Thai Dee occupies a dining room within the Rock Tavern on Dewsbury Road, a pub-restaurant combination that has become one of Elland's more interesting food stops. The format is unstuffy: a dedicated Thai dining room within the pub, without pretension but with genuine cooking. The signature starter — Bang Thai Dee soup deon special, minced chicken and prawn in wonton pastry with fresh garlic and coriander — is the kitchen's most distinctive dish. Tod Mun Kao Pod, deep-fried corn cakes with sweet chilli, and Gang Massaman, a southern Thai coconut curry with potato, are particular customer favourites. Ingredients include British pork, chicken and beef from local butchers. TripAdvisor gives it 4.5 out of 5. Thai dishes dominate the evening service; well worth the short detour from Elland's Southgate centre.
