About Wok Inn
The Wok Inn is a small Chinese takeaway on Hanover Street, a short walk from the central waterfront of Stranraer and the head of Loch Ryan. The shop is one of three Chinese takeaways serving the town and trades a counter-and-collection operation with no dine-in — the typical small-town Scottish-Cantonese model.
The menu runs a long British-Cantonese list — chow mein, fried rice and noodle bases with curry, sweet-and-sour, black-bean, satay, OK and Cantonese-style sauces over chicken, beef, pork, king prawn and a small vegetable section. Crispy aromatic duck served with pancakes, salt-and-pepper dishes, and set meals bundling starters, mains and rice fill out the rest. Vegetarian options are noted in particular and reviewer call-outs run to the fried rice and the prawn dishes.
The shop is closed Wednesdays and runs an evening service the rest of the week, with a slightly later close at the weekend. The Stranraer catchment is thin and the three Chinese takeaways in town divide the trade between them.
