Smokey Joe

Smokey Joe made its name running a burger pop-up inside The Boileroom, Guildford's celebrated independent music venue on Stoke Fields, before settling into a permanent unit on Chapel Street. The menu is built around premium chuck-steak patties: the signature Smokey Joe burger loads a 6oz patty with smoked streaky bacon and American cheese; the Moo Blue adds blue cheese; the Chilli Beef Melt brings braised chilli; the Chicken Katsu takes a breaded thigh in Japanese-style sauce. Hotdogs and loaded fries complete the roster. Delivery runs via Deliveroo and Just Eat; a lunchtime deal pairs any burger with free fries on weekdays. An independent with a clear identity in a market dominated by fast-food chains — its Boileroom origins have given it credibility with the Guildford music and arts crowd as well as students from the nearby university.
