Lemettis

Lemetti's on Main Street is one of the most historically significant fish-and-chip shops in the Falkirk district. The story begins in 1895 when Luigi Lemetti arrived from Tuscany via London and opened the original shop — part of a wider Italian-immigrant food culture that shaped Central Scotland's high streets across the early twentieth century. Three generations of Lemettis ran the fryer until the business changed hands in recent years, and a new owner — Pierluigi Verrecchia, himself an Italian-heritage operator from the Falkirk area — reopened the shop under the same name out of respect for its standing in the community. The chip shop has been shortlisted for the Scottish Italian Awards Best Fish and Chip Shop category. Fresh fish, golden chips, and Italian family values are the constants that have kept Camelon's chippy institution alive at 130 years and counting.
