Hot Stuff in Vauxhall SW8 is a legendary BYO Indian restaurant at 19 Wilcox Road that has been trading since September 1988. Run by Raj — who knows most regulars by name and has been known to choose the menu for first-timers — it holds about 25 people in a cramped, purple-walled dining room with an open kitchen. There is no alcohol licence; the nearest shop is a few yards away and corkage is free. Meals for three rarely exceed £40. Ian Wright has eaten here. Londonist called it ace; Andy Hayler reviewed it; AllInLondon's reviewers called it the best Indian food in London. One Foursquare listing marks it as now closed — please verify before visiting.
