Jai Krishna

Jai Krishna is a legendary South Indian vegetarian restaurant at 161 Stroud Green Road, a Finsbury Park institution that has been serving the community for over 30 years. Hawkker calls it "an absolute hidden gem": "Fully vegetarian Indian, very traditional. BYOB with corkage of just £1.25 per bottle of wine. Every single dish under £10." A total of 48 local Airbnb residents recommend it, describing it as "one of the longest running restaurants on the high street." Rate My Bistro describes it as "the Indian vegetarian version of Roti King -- a simple, no fuss restaurant that just does tasty quality food." The restaurant performed a Grand Reopening in September 2025, confirmed on Facebook, with long-standing regulars celebrating its return.

The order system is charmingly old-school: you write your choices on a slip of paper and take it to the counter to pay -- no rushing, no pressure, just focus on the food. The menu covers South Indian classics: masala dosa, saag, bhel puri, dhal, rice dishes, breads and curries. Most dishes are vegan by default with non-vegan options clearly marked. Closed Sunday.
