Haven Bistro and Bar

Haven Bistro and Bar at 1363-1365 High Road in Whetstone N20 is an independent restaurant and cocktail bar owned and run by Austrian-born chef-restaurateur Julius Oberegger, who opened it in 2001. Hardens has praised it consistently for 25 years, calling it "an oasis in North London" and "the closest to fine dining without going to the West End". The menu ranges widely and imaginatively — fresh Jersey rock oysters, English rack of lamb, chicken Milanese, wok-fried noodles, chilli and soy-glazed tofu — with a philosophy of honest, simply prepared dishes that let natural flavours shine. Haven is also a licensed venue for civil weddings and partnerships: propose at the bar, marry in the mezzanine, hold the reception in the restaurant.
