About Trattoria da Luigi
Trattoria da Luigi is a traditional Sardinian restaurant at 98-100 Stoke Newington Church Street, one of the most loved Italian restaurants on this celebrated dining street. Yelp updated March 2026 and OpenTable updated 2026. AllInLondon listed; Facebook active with 651 likes. Head chef Roberto Tonzanu was born and raised in the north of Sardinia, coming to London to work with celebrity chef Gennaro Contaldo before gaining further experience with the Rossopomodoro group, then opening this, his very own restaurant. The dining room is instantly recognisable by its pillar-box red frontage, rustic brick walls, Victorian fireplaces, eclectic furnishings and art -- a seriously cute and cosy spot where one feels immediately at home. The menu features the less often experienced cuisine of Sardinia rather than the expected Italian usuals: Sardinian flatbread adorns the bread basket; the distinctive Sardinian semolina and saffron gnocchi appears alongside seafood specials, calamari piccante and wood-fired pizzas with toppings such as olives, rosemary and Sardinian salami. House wine is available by the litre at a very competitive price. Dinner daily; lunch Fri--Sun.
