About The Duke of Cambridge

The Duke of Cambridge is a landmark of the Islington dining and pub scene -- Britain's first organic pub and restaurant, Soil Association certified since it opened in 1998 and one of only a handful of establishments anywhere in the UK where every item on the menu, including all beers, wines and spirits, is certified organic. Founder Geetie Singh is a pioneer of the sustainable restaurant movement; since 2014 the pub has partnered with Riverford farm (run by Guy Watson, whom she married that year), sourcing its produce from one of the UK's most respected organic farms. Country and Town House praises it for "succulent cuts of rare breeds (from White Park cattle to Hebridean Lamb), locally sourced game, or brilliant Cornish fish" and a menu that "excels with much more traditional pub fare" including "the art of the Scotch egg with a black pudding encasing."

The menu changes daily to reflect whatever seasonal organic produce is at its best: expect dishes such as cauliflower flower, scallop and crab mousse with basil and lemon; roast shoulder of pork; whole mackerel with potatoes Lyonnais; herby vegetables with risotto; and a Ginger Jamaica cake with whisky toffee sauce to finish. All food, drink and even the cleaning products are organic or wild. Terrace seating; private parties up to 40. Dog and family friendly. A short walk from Angel along the Regent's Canal. Closed Monday. Website: dukeorganic.co.uk.
