Noodle N Rice

Noodle 'n' Rice occupies a South Bridge unit directly in the Old Town's busiest pedestrian corridor, midway between the Royal Mile junction and the Pleasance. The restaurant serves Thai and Chinese cooking and is fully halal-certified, with all dishes prepared from what the kitchen describes as daily-sourced ingredients.

The Thai menu is the stronger suit: curries made with 100% coconut milk imported from Thailand, available with chicken, beef, tofu, king prawns, or scallops; Pad See Ew (stir-fried flat noodles); and a range of stir-fries. The Chinese side covers standard noodle and rice dishes. The kitchen also makes its desserts in-house — chocolate and red velvet cakes are listed — and runs a smoothie and milkshake range. The restaurant seats diners as well as offering collection and Uber Eats delivery. It has a current FHIS Pass rating. South Bridge's position on the main route between the University of Edinburgh campus and the Royal Mile keeps the lunch trade steady through term time.
