Fresco

Fresco Cafe is a small hot food takeaway on the Canongate, the lower section of the Royal Mile running down from the Tron area to Holyrood Palace. At this end of the street the Canongate transitions from heavy tourist traffic into the quieter residential zone near the Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Palace — Fresco sits near the midpoint of that shift. The cafe serves hot snacks, sandwiches and cooked food to a mix of local workers, Old Town residents from the surrounding closes and lanes, and tourists making their way between the main Royal Mile attractions and Holyrood. The Canongate has been Edinburgh's most densely historic street since the medieval period, and the immediate neighbourhood includes the Canongate Kirkyard, the Tolbooth and the Museum of Edinburgh.
