About Eatalias Take Away Food Shops
Eatalias has been feeding the Leith Walk end of Edinburgh since 1981, when Alberto and Dina — former owners of Vittoria restaurant in Leith — opened the shop on Brunswick Place serving hand-prepared fish and chips. Originally trading as the Brunswick Fry, the name changed to Eatalias in 1996 and the menu expanded to include stone-baked pizza and freshly made pasta alongside the original fish supper. The pizza dough is made daily using stone-ground flours and left to mature for over 48 hours before baking. The family business is now run by Alberto and Dina's daughter Ida and her husband Roberto, who have kept the same commitment to quality across four decades. The shop gained national profile in 2008 when it competed on BBC's Take On the Takeaway against Antonio Carluccio, and has since won two PAPA industry awards for pizza and pasta as well as the Edinburgh Evening News Chip Shop of the Year. It sits a short walk from the foot of Broughton Street and draws custom from the New Town and lower Leith Walk alike.
