About Chop Chop 1
Chop Chop on Morrison Street opened in 2006 and has become one of Edinburgh's most recognised Chinese restaurants, built around the northern Chinese tradition of jiaozi — crescent-shaped parcels of dough with pork, prawn or vegetable fillings, either boiled or fried. The kitchen was awarded by Gordon Ramsay in his search for Britain's best local restaurant, and has held AA Rosettes every year since 2010. The house approach is a fixed-price Unlimited Banquet — a set amount per head for as many re-orders as you want — which makes it a practical choice for groups. The red chairs and bare wooden tables have more in common with a Beijing canteen than a British-Chinese restaurant. Morrison Street runs between Haymarket station and Tollcross, and Chop Chop sits near the station end, a five-minute walk from the platforms. Lunch and pre-theatre sittings run Monday to Saturday, with extended evening hours at weekends.
