About Beirut Lebanese Halal Restaurant
Beirut opened in 2010 as Edinburgh's first Lebanese restaurant and has retained its position as one of the city's most distinctive dining options on Nicolson Square, the Georgian square tucked a block west of Nicolson Street's main student strip. The kitchen focuses on charcoal-grilled meats — lamb chops, shish tawouk, chicken kafta and mixed grill platters — cooked fresh daily over charcoal and served to share in the Lebanese tradition. The mezze selection covers hummus, falafel, tabbouleh, fattoush and halloumi, with a generous range of vegan and vegetarian dishes alongside the meat-based menu. All meat is halal-certified. The dining room is traditionally decorated, and outdoor tables with a shisha terrace are available in season. Nicolson Square is a five-minute walk from the University of Edinburgh's Old College and within easy reach of the Museum of the University, the Festival Theatre and the Meadows.
